Great New Copper Rain Chains

We have always offered copper rain chains. Early this year we added a new line with more choices, better quality and durability. While rain chains are an age old architectural element in the far east, they are relatively new in this country and just starting to gain popularity. Taking the place of a traditional downspout, rainchains offer a beautiful and visual way to take the water from the gutter to the ground.

Cape Cod lost a great friend & neighbor with the passing of Senator Edward "Ted" Kennedy this past Tuesday. We will miss seeing Ted sailing aboard the Mya in the Figawi races, the star power and summer fun from the compound, and the tireless dedication of a great senator. The Cape Cod Weathervane Company and its staff sends our condolences and sympathy to the family of Senator Kennedy .

The Most Requested Weathervane ....

We have hundreds of weathervanes in many shapes and sizes. Some are more popular than other. Different themes run hot at different times. Two years ago, motorcycle weathervanes were big. New Lantern Model: The Frosted Onion

This is so new, its not on our website yet.  I know I'm jumping the gun here, but so many of you have been waiting, I decided to post the picture and hope to get it posted to the website in the next week with specs, pricing, and options. Keep an eye out on our Onion Lantern page or call us for more info. 

So what is the big deal, you may be asking yourself ??  Well can you say compact fluorescent light (CFL) ? People want to use these energy efficient lights, but they look lousy in a nice onion light fixture. That's where the Frosted Onion comes into play. The frosted glass obscures the unsightly CFL bulb while uniformly diffusing the light.

New Weathervanes ... Many Changes Coming !!

Its both exciting and frustrating. Our major weathervane tinkerer is doing a major overhaul on the copper weathervane line. Lots of discontinued models, but many new styles coming. Getting rid of old inventory... waiting for the coppersmith to make all the new models. Not to mention the time involved on updating the website. Its going to be a busy spring! Please bear with us while we sort things out. Despite people perceiving us as a larger company, We are on the small side. But we like it that way - it enables us to offer superb customer service and stay on top of things.  Needless to say if your holding out on buying that copper horse weathervane, don't wait too long - it may not be here next month. 

Were Moving !!

We have some exciting news. We are moving. The month of April will be a transition month with us packing and moving and by May 1, we should be all settled. We are moving the Office, and shipping and receiving department to Orleans. The showroom merchandise is moving to Brewster, in the back room at Fiddlehead Farm Antiques.

These changes will allow us to operate more efficiently as well as a few added benefits.

These benefits include the addition of weekend hours. Also a wider range of merchandise will be available. Customers who have purchased or received gift cards will be able to use them for anything in the shop - a real benefit to antique lovers!

Feeding the Birds

If your like most people, feeding the birds is an addicting habit. A few feeders by a picture window or a kitchen window. I myself have a nice bow window that has a few comfy chairs that look out onto my collection of bird feeders. My menu consists of the standard black sunflower seed as well as a thistle feeder and of course a suet feeder. Problem is while there are hundreds of different kinds and styles of bird feeders, there seems to be very limited selection of suet feeders. I have never been too fond of the wire cage suet feeders. That's why I love the suet feeder line we have here at the Cape Cod Weathervane Company. They are stylish and attractive as well as functional. This is the only suet feeder that I can fill without getting the suet fat allover my hands. These are a great mothers day gift or teachers gift.

Copper & Brass Onion Lanterns

Our lanterns have been a big hit, not a day goes by that we don't get a call from someone looking for our guidance on choosing the best fixture. I'm amazed (and thankful) at the number of people out west that have some connection to Cape Cod and/or New England and want to add a little of the new England feel to their home. I guess that's why our Onion lantern line is so popular. And with good reason- these are so well made and we believe in them so much that they come with a lifetime warranty. Generally, its the people who come into our showroom and notice our selection of decretive bird houses (they are hard to miss) Its understandable- there are so many good things to be seen on our website and bird houses can be bought just about everywhere. You won't however find bird houses like these just anywhere. With spring just around the corner - now is the time to think about updating your birdhouses. Our bird houses are also a great mothers day gift idea.

These chandeliers are hand crafted right here in New England by the same folks that make our onion lanterns and outdoor light fixtures. Cardinals vs Steelers Super Bowl Matchup

The Super Bowl is always a good take, the holidays are over and its cold in many parts of the country. Even those who dont follow the NFL all year long tend to participate, buy a square and find a good place to watch the game. This years match up is the Pittsburgh Steelers agasint the Arizona Cardinals. I thought this would be a good time to re-introduce our line of NFL football address plaques. After many people calling over the past year to see if we sold weather instruments, we are happy to say that we now have them.  We are carrying the complete line from Cape Cod Wind & Weather which includes the cape cod marine barometer, the cape cod wind indicator (including one model with a peak gust indicator), a cape cod clock.  

These weather instruments will please the novice weather watcher as well as the semi-pro wanna be weatherman (or weatherwoman ).  These are a great gift for the hard to buy for man in your life.

Cape Cod & Islands Doorknocker

Announcing the all new Cape Cod Door Knocker, Along with the Nantucket Door Knocker and the Martha's Vineyard Door Knocker. 

These Door Knockers are high quality and are available in either yellow brass or nickel silver, both with a dark bronze compass ring and red brass compass points.

Welcome to Our Blog

Having survived a number of years without a blog, one would think why start one now ? After all we already have a website, send out a newsletter regularly, advertise regularly in print as well as online. However, we find ourself at an exciting time- We have been busy adding new weathervane designs, cupolas styles, door knockers, lantern and more as well as some product lines with more to come.
